18. WIND TURBINE POWER QUALITY

This function allows to estimate the power quality expected from a wind turbine or a group of wind turbines when deployed at a specific site. In this section we will show how to calculate flicker emission due to the continuous or switching operations and relative voltage change due to a swithcing operation of a single wind turbine.
Calculations in this module are performed in accordance with IEC 61400-21 standard for Measurement and assessment of power quality characteristics of grid connected wind turbines and IEC 61000-3-7 standard for Assessment of emission limits for the connection of fluctuating installations to MV, HV and EHC power systems.
In these calculations, Pst and Plt are the short and long-term flicker emissions from the wind turbine installation and d is the relative voltage change due to a switching operation of a wind turbine installation.

Note: In order to proceed wind turbine power quality analysis, it is required to perform a three-phase short circuit (Short circuit K3) calculation first.
