9.10.1. What is the meaning of negative power factor?
After performing power flow calculations, arrows show active power direction. Active power consumption is always positive and active power generation is always negative. Inductive reactive power is also positive. Capacitive reactive power is always negative. Power factor is calculated from active and reactive power, therefore it’s sign depends on active and reactive power signs. All these statements are true, when user is looking at the beginning of the line where “Sij” power is provided. All signs are opposite if user is looking at the end of the line where “Sji” power is provided.
