17.5. Solar irradiance modelling data transfer to solar panel
It is possible to use modelled solar irradiation data in the time dependent DC power flow calculations. This feature can be used to estimate solar panel grid operation modes at all possible irradiation values. In order to transfer modelling data user should perform these steps:
In solar irradiance modelling window select tab Irradiance chart. After the selection of time period Day of the year, right click on a graph with a mouse and select an option Copy data to clipboard:
Open Excel and paste the copied data. Select all data from the first 2 lines as is shown in the picture below and copy it:
Paste data into the new sheet and transpose it to columns following the steps described in pictures below:
Exported irradiation data is in daily format. In order to use it in power flow calculations user has to convert it to hourly. To get units of the required dimension, user has to divide all irradiance data values by a coefficient of 8.7658. Coefficient approximates average solar irradiation power per hour.
Select a column with day numbers and a column with irradiance data divided by a coefficient and copy it.
Open PV module properties, select Solar irradience tab and press left mouse button in marked area. Paste the data with a keyboard combination of Ctrl + V:
After data is pasted, solar irradiance graph is generated. Important: data have to be assigned for each PV module.
After irradiation data is assigned to PV modules, user should select Time dependent DC power flow option from the Calculate tab:
Calculation results can be found in Summaries→ DC summary:
PV Cell characteristics are opened by clicking on Chart button in f(U) column. Power flow data is opened by clicking on Chart button in Time dependant power flow column:
