8.1. Pump modelling

In current market there are a lot of pumps types and models. A work of any pump can be described by two main characteristics – pressure and efficiency coefficient dependence on pumps leaking flow. EA-PSM Hydraulics allows user to model any pump’s type or model.
Pumps modelling window is reached through the main toolbar by selecting “Modelling“– “Pump modelling“.

Here user can edit already existing pump model chosen from the library or create a new one. In “General properties“ tab user must enter a manufacturer, title of model, material parameters, other nominal values and dimensions to which pumps characteristics will be entered. If pump impeller diameter is not known, it is recommended to leave at EA-PSM Hydraulics suggested value.
In “Pressure“ and “Efficiency“ tabs the user must enter P(Q) and ɳ(Q) characteristics. By clicking button “Interpolate“, the user may improve the quality of the curve, however this feature should be used carefuly:
Note: The accuracy of the calculation results depends on that how qualitatively and accurately the user enters the pump characteristic. While entering P (Q) and η(Q) dependencies it is important to check that the interpolated curves are as close as possible to the curves given by the manufacturer.

Note: EA-PSM Hydraulics allows the user to copy and paste Microsoft Excel cells. The data can be pasted by clicking on the points table and activating the keyboard combination Ctrl + V.
