4.7. Defining parameters of the Variable frequency drive
Parameters needed to be entered for a frequency converter are depicted in the frequency converter properties window, general tab. User may change the converter’s output frequency by setting output frequency percentage. The output value will be the defined percentage of the nominal value. These parameters are usually found in the manufacturer’s catalog or equipment manual. Short time overload shows the percentage at which the motors can be overloaded.
.
U/f characteristic is depicted in the corresponding tab. This property window allows the user to configure the output of frequency relative to the voltage input. It is possible to add new points to configure the curve. To do so, simply click button “Add” and fill in the frequency and voltage values into the added list item. Note that both frequency and voltage values are given in relative units.
Note: the curve’s endpoint coordinate values must not be higher than 1.
The frequency converter outputs harmonics to the outstream. The input harmonics can be set in the “Input harmonics tab”. This panel acts in the same way as the inverter’s input harmonics panel. More about the customization of it is written in chapter 4.11. Defining parameters of the Inverter.
